Local businesses invited to Spotlight on Devon Hospitality and Leisure events

The Heart of the South West Growth Hub is partnering with the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) to host two free events to support hospitality, retail and leisure businesses in Devon.

Recent feedback from FSB has indicated that hospitality, retail and leisure businesses are facing challenges around the recruitment and retention of staff, accessing finance, and procurement.

The Spotlight on Devon Hospitality and Leisure events will give businesses the chance to hear directly from support providers, district authorities, and recruitment experts about available support, and how to overcome the challenges they face. The events are sponsored by the Heart of the South West LEP, and are being run in partnership with Business Information Point, North Devon + and ERDF.

The events offer a chance to hear from both the Heart of the South West LEP and the Growth Hub, and will offer a range of solutions for retaining staff and recruiting. There will also be a chance to find out about bidding for procurement opportunities.

The first event will be held at The Node, Barnstaple, 15th September, 2pm – 5pm. The lineup of speakers includes:

  • David Hynd, Programme Manager at the Heart of the South West Growth Hub
  • Eifion Jones, Chief Operating Officer at the Heart of the South West LEP
  • Emma Blackburn, Employer Services Manager at Seetec Pluss
  • Rachael Taylor, Business Manager at SWIG Finance

The second event will be held at South Devon College, Paignton, 29th September, 2pm – 5pm. Business Information Point will also be running a workshop on ‘Making your business attractive to employees’ from 5pm – 7pm. Guests will hear from speakers including:

  • David Hynd, Programme Manager at the Heart of the South West Growth Hub
  • Eifion Jones, Chief Operating Officer at the Heart of the South West LEP
  • Emma Blackburn, Employer Services Manager at Seetec Pluss
  • Joanna Gale, Integration Lead at Seetec Pluss
  • Lloyd Brina, Senior Manager at British Business Bank

At both events, guests will be able to network with other local business leaders, and will hear from keynote speaker Eifion Jones, Chief Operating Officer at the Heart of the South West LEP, on the economic landscape for hospitality and leisure businesses in the region.

Businesses can register to attend on the Heart of the South West Growth Hub website.
