Our unrivalled coastlines and maritime history offers a unique place for understanding and protecting our seas, and we are rapidly accelerating low-carbon energy production, drawing on our natural capital and developing nuclear to power our communities.
And as the country’s most rural region, we’re leading the way in clean tech, green tech, and helping our farmers become more sustainable.

Powering a cleaner future
EDF Energy’s Hinkley Point C’s nuclear project is one of the largest infrastructure projects in Europe and is expected to provide low-carbon electricity to millions of homes for the next 60 years.
Upskilling our workforce
Bridgwater & Taunton College’s Construction Skills and Innovation Centre is at the forefront of sustainable construction practices, working with Hinkley Point C to drive clean growth by upskilling the local community for the jobs of the future.

The Ocean Futures programme brings together Government, industry and academia to develop sustainable practices and technologies to reduce the impact of human activity on the marine environment.
