Maritime Minister opens Maritime UK SW Clean Maritime Summit
Maritime UK SW are planning a Clean Maritime Summit on Friday 18th June to bring together ports, harbours, marinas, manufacturers, research, government and end users with the aim building a roadmap to achieve net zero in the South West ocean economy. The Clean Maritime Summit will host sector experts to present the challenges and opportunities for different parts of the SW ocean economy to decarbonise and design a regional roadmap.
Tidal Stream Supply Chain Events
Two supply chain webinars events are planned on the 10th and 15th June where project and technology developers from tidal stream sites across the Channel in France and the UK will share the details of their forthcoming development and procurement plans.
Funding for Innovation – Horizon Europe
The UK is able to take part in the Horizon Europe program. UK organisations will be able to access the €95.5Bn research and innovation programme on equivalent terms as those from Member States. Clean Mobility and the race towards zero emission transportation.
On Thursday 13th May, EXIST (Exeter Initiative for Science & Technology) will be returning with a virtual event exploring Clean Mobility and the race towards zero emission transportation.
This knowledge sharing & business engagement session will run from 10am – 12pm, focusing on the challenges, innovations and opportunities for zero emission transport, electric vehicle charging infrastructure, and regional carbon neutral ambitions.
Office of Naval Research Global Launches Second Round of ‘Global-X’ Challenge Focused on Polar Science
The Office of Naval Research (ONR) Global, in its sustained mission to become the partner of choice for the worldwide international Science and Technology (S&T) community, will launch the second round of Global-X, a nine-month international science challenge worth up to $500,000, to encourage groundbreaking research from all around the world.

Maritime UK SW Sponsor, Applied Genomics, based at Brixham Environmental Lab, have developed a sensitive environmental DNA Sampling tool which acts as an early warning system helping maritime ports to detect, monitor and manage invasive non-native marine organisms which potentially threaten the marine environment in ports and their surrounding coastal waters.
