GD40 – Tiverton Eastern Urban Extension

New access onto the A361 North Devon Link Road and to serve the new development to the East of Tiverton (Tiverton Eastern Urban Extension)  as without it there would be significant traffic pressure on the existing road network.

The junction will accommodate the 1,500 dwellings planned for the east of Tiverton and 30,000m ² employment floor-space allocated within the Local Plan, with the potential to unlock further development to the east in future.

As well as providing access to the development, the junction will reduce pressure on sensitive locations such as Blundell’s School by diverting traffic away from Halberton and Blundell’s Road.

The A361 is of strategic importance as it provides the connection between Northern Devon, Torridge and North Cornwall and the rest of the country.
