Growth Deal Project Progress
The Growth Deal programme of infrastructure, business support and skills projects is progressing well, with four more schemes starting on site since December.
The development of the new Claylands Business Park in Paignton is underway, as part of the LEP’s Unlocking Growth Fund which helps provide valuable business space for a range of sectors across the Heart of the South West area. £2.4m Growth Deal funding is allocated to this scheme, which will create 120,000 sq ft of employment space and 187 new jobs. Work has started on the £13m upgrading of the link from Newton Abbot to the A38 to improve access by road, pedestrian and cycle routes, partly funded by £6.5m from the LEP’s Growth Deal. The scheme is expected to generate 1000 new jobs and enable the development of 1200 new homes by 2021. The full story is available here.
Construction of the North Devon Enterprise Centre has started on site, partly funded by £2.15m from the Growth Deal. Offering high quality office and collaboration space, the new centre is expected to be completed by the end of this year. It will provide tailored support for entrepreneurs and small and medium sized businesses that have potential for high growth and innovation. The full story is available here.
Finally, last week work began on the new Ada Lovelace Building at Exeter Science Park, creating 20,000 square foot of speculative office and laboratory space and 150 jobs with £5.5m from the Growth Deal. The full story is available here.
