GB20 – Centre for Clean Mobility

The Centre for Clean Mobility will be a high-specification collaboration laboratory used for research and development, with strong industrial engagement and co-funding.

Located in the University of Exeter’s Engineering Research Centre Building at Exeter Science Park, Centre for Clean Mobility’s plan is to become internationally leading organisation for clean and smart mobility in Marine, Off-highway, Rail and Defence sectors.

The Engineering Research Centre at Exeter Science Park,  houses the Exeter  VSimulators  facility,  and opened in January 2020. The Centre for Clean Mobility  will be housed in a currently vacant part of the building, with funding from Getting Building Fund providing investment required to fit out and equip the laboratory.

The Centre for Clean Mobility will help the region to delivery net zero carbon, engaging the R&D,  technological, political, and business partners required to do this in the region, nationally and globally.  Whilst the impact of climate change is increasingly well understood, the commercial sector is only beginning to face development of clean power technologies for climate change, notably in transport sectors excluding road cars.
