Pioneering Engineering Consultancy firm arrives at Plymouth Science Park

This month, Engineering and Construction Consultancy specialists Matthew Edward Limited announced a move to Plymouth Science Park, a boost to the area’s growing portfolio of high-performance engineering firms.

The company provides services to a range of clients including private homeowners, developers and architects, universities and international corporations.

Currently boasting a four-person team including a Graduate Electrical Engineer, the outfit also works closely with various specialist Sub-Consultants from across Devon and Cornwall.

Having recently taken on several large contracts, Matthew Edward Ltd. are looking to recruit more local talent by drawing on the skilled graduate pool in Plymouth and the connections between the Science Park, the University of Plymouth and the wider area.

“The network of like-minded businesses at the Park and the modern and flexible facilities – such as meeting rooms that can be rented on an ad-hoc basis – will provide us with the support and opportunities we need to achieve our growth ambitions.”

The company shows a strong commitment to developing the next generation of engineers in the region and are CITB Construction Ambassadors and Local Enterprise Advisors, meaning they volunteer directly with local schools and colleges to help develop their careers programmes. The outfit also works closely with the University of Plymouth by volunteering at events and offering advice to students to help them bridge the gap between education and employment.

Fay Davies, Business Development Manager at Plymouth Science Park, said: “This is a really exciting time for Matthew Edward Ltd. We are delighted to welcome them to the Park and to provide them with the support and facilities they need to continue to succeed and grow their business.

“We pride ourselves on fostering an environment of collaboration and technological innovation at the Park, and Matthew Edward’s forward-thinking business vision and commitment to nurturing talent correlates with our belief in securing the future of the South West as a hub for cutting edge innovation.”
