LEADER funding available to boost rural employment and growth in Devon and Somerset
Rural businesses and organisations across Devon and Somerset are being encouraged to apply for European grants designed to boost rural employment.
The LEADER scheme is one element of the Rural Development Programme for England, funded by the EU and Defra. There is in the region of £12 million of funding available for projects that meet the eligibility criteria throughout most of rural Devon and Somerset.

The LEP has no direct discretionary funding to allocate to businesses or organisations. However LEPs are a platform for funding applications; with some funding streams being entirely dependent on LEPs administering them, such as the Growth Deals, and others having potential advantage should they be supported by the LEP, such as European funding.
For the latest submission to government in July 2016 for Growth Deal 3 funding and Transport Majors funding read the full story and see the full documents here. And for the latest on the Growth Deal 3 bid process, see update here which is an extract from the October LEP newsletter.

Whilst there are no current calls for Growth Deal projects at the moment, the LEP keeps abreast of potential scope for projects in line with our Strategic Economic Plan to generate transformational growth, therefore we are keen to collate information on future project ideas should the appropriate funding opportunity arise.
LEP Project Bank
Businesses, social enterprises, charities and public sector organisations that have a project they wish HotSW LEP to consider for funding, can submit via the template here to be sent to email@example.com
If eligible for funding, projects will enter the Hot SW LEP ‘Project Bank’ until such time as an appropriate funding opportunity comes along, such as Growth Deal, at which time the project will be considered in a prioritisation exercise to develop the LEP’s project pipeline. This is to ensure that all potential projects in the HotSW area can be considered on their individual merits in line with different sets of criteria in each funding stream.
Some organisations, both public and private sector, choose to seek LEP endorsement for their projects to demonstrate an added value in their proposal being in line with the Strategic Economic Plan and therefore more economically viable.
