Social Enterprise Special Interest Group

Social Enterprises are a key driver to sustainable economic growth.

The Heart of the South West area has one of the highest concentrations of social enterprises in the country and they are particularly well represented in the micro business sector that makes up the backbone of our rural economy.  They are also successful in driving growth.

The Heart of the South West has a vibrant mix of social enterprises throughout the area, some of which have already been certified with the Social Enterprise Mark in a wide range of sectors.  This includes organisations such as Dartington Hall, Milfields Trust and Peninsula Dental Social Enterprise CIC and also individuals working in social enterprise in a wide variety of organisations, sectors and sizes.

The list of certified social enterprises is constantly changing, with new ones being added regularly.  To view the up-to-date directory please click here (this link will open a new window and take you to the Social Enterprise Mark website).

The role of the LEP’s Social Enterprise Special Interest Group is to provide advice and comment to the LEP board on issues that affect social enterprises, it is not part of the LEP’s formal governence structure.

The group will:

  • share plans and updates from the LEP
  • receive ideas and feedback from Social Enterprises on how the LEP can help
  • discuss emerging issues and / or opportunities.
